I've been doodling since I was a kid. Nowadays I still do just that, but then I'll bring it into the Mac - or, quite often, begin right in the
digital realm - where I'll extend and transmute the work via a drawing tablet and miscellaneous photographic imagery.
Routinely I inject aspects of what I do as a member of an art department team: working with logotypes and typography for props, set
dressing graphics and digital playback, set documentation. I tend to bounce between the 'hard' imagery of vector applications and the
richly nuanced and textured world of raster imagery. I enjoy working with the crispness of black and white but colour too has its
charms.
Lately I've also returned to a weekly regimen of life drawing, which is about as old school and basic as it gets. The skills it imparts can
be brought to bear in a number of contexts. It's not so much about rapid attainment as it is steady, disciplined application; simply
drawing the human figure offers its own rewards.
