Sonyx is the name of my musical alter-ego. You can also find me on SoundCloud.
I organize my compositions around the guitar, which has stoked my interest in musical creativity for three
decades now. I'm interested in exploring passages evoking colour, texture and emotion. I build layers of
guitars and do my own supplementary bits with bass, keys and various trinkets and gadgets; loops and found
sound via field recording usually supply the rest. My themes are often as abstract and lateral as my paintings;
in both instances what's culled from the mix is at least as important as what's retained. Consequently, any
given project is often in a state of flux until such time as I feel I can move past it. Covering other artists' work
can also ground me by providing more conventional supporting frameworks.
This selection is from the past few years, including reinterpretations of other artist's songs (and vice-versa) as
well as remixes of mine drawn from collaborative sessions with old friends and fellow musicians.
